Locust Insignia Brand

I was working on tattoo designs recently, and I came up with the idea of the Locust symbol as a brand (those things cowboys mark their cows with). I tried to color the paper with a skin tone, make the symbol have a burnt effect on the skin, but have still (somewhat) fresh with some blood around it. I might want to get this done as an actual tattoo...

I was thinking of having one of my characters bear this mark, I just haven't decided how it would happen.
